Expected Behavior

Users should be able to use the Znuny interface normally according to their assigned permissions. Non-admin users should be able to perform all actions allowed by their roles without encountering connectivity-related errors. For example, they should be able to add notes, close tasks, and perform other permitted ticket actions.

Actual Behavior

When a non-admin user attempts to perform actions such as adding notes, closing tasks, or other ticket-related operations, the interface displays a network-related warning instead of completing the action. The operation cannot be completed, although the user is connected and the issue appears to be application-related rather than an actual network interruption.

1. go to ticket
2. Action: Add Note, Close ticket, Change owner
3. Znuny detected possible network issues. You could either try reloading this page manually or wait until your browser has re-established the connection on its own.

Additional Information

The issue occurs for users without administrator privileges.
Administrator users do not appear to be affected.
Affected users are unable to add notes, close tasks, and perform other non-admin ticket actions permitted by their assigned roles.

Are you using SSO for authentication, or is Znuny running behind a reverse proxy? If so, does the issue occur only after the affected user has been logged in or inactive for some time?

I recommend checking the session timeout settings in Znuny, the IAM system or identity provider, and the reverse proxy or web server. In particular, make sure that the upstream authentication session does not expire before the Znuny session.

I encountered similar behavior during testing: after the upstream session expired, AJAX requests failed and Znuny displayed a generic network or communication warning. Adjusting the timeout settings in the IAM system and web server resolved the issue.

If the problem occurs immediately after login and affects only non-admin users, I would also check their queue permissions and any configured ACLs. The browser’s Network tab, along with the Znuny and web server logs, may reveal the HTTP response returned for the failed request.

Users authenticate via LDAP (no SSO and no reverse proxy).

I found that the issue is related to group permissions. I have an it-admin group (AdminGroup ID=6) that grants full administrative permissions. Users who belong to this group can perform all actions without any issues.

However, users who are not members of this group cannot perform any actions. Instead, they immediately receive the following message:

"Znuny detected possible network issues. You could either try reloading this page manually or wait until your browser has re-established the connection on its own."

This happens immediately after login, not after a period of inactivity.
