A Geospatial Data Scientist and Researcher dedicated to advancing geologic and environmental sciences through rigorous statistical modeling. Specializing in the architecture of automated data pipelines, I have engineered high-efficiency toolkits and scientific scripts that have significantly accelerated data processing workflows since 2023. Currently pursuing advanced studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and holding a Graduate Certificate in GIS, I bridge the gap between raw Earth observations and actionable scientific insights. Beyond the data, I capture the world through the lens of amateur photography, showcasing work at jmarcelphotography.com.

I'm creating an ontological database that includes terms translations for the purpose of robust sematic interoperabilitiy and the ability for linguistic cross boundary transferability. The ontological structure will provide necessary formal adn explicit framework to define concepts of multi-definitions By hosting translations directly within this defined schema, your database ensures that every system, analyst, or application accessing the data—regardless of their operational language—refers to the exact same concept (e.g., the English term "invoice" maps to the defined concept FinancialDocument, which then translates directly and unambiguously to its French, German, and Spanish counterparts). This unified approach guarantees data consistency and accurate cross-lingual knowledge sharing, transforming disparate terms into a single, cohesive, and semantically rich knowledge graph.
-
Ontological Database - IMPROVED: Improved database structure and introduced translation schema (including additional fixes and enhancements).

Implementing a New Geologic Mapping scheme that incorporates modern standards to better reflect utility infrastructure changes, moving beyond outdated conventional mapping practices. I'll be starting to create digital geological map, including interactive websites and products. The current process is the creation of surface models; 2 of material impervious type (canopy and ground); 2 of elevation type (hillshade and elevation contour). These are fundamental models that will overlay geologic information. I'll be starting with geologic maps in the State of Texas.
- Phase 1 - Impervious "Permeability" Canopy Model - "Model Created", this preliminary model data that is the basis for the Hydrologic Impervious Ground Model (currently in progress) and serves in illustrating regions where geologic area is covered by anthropogenic (man-made) materials or natural vegetation canopy.
- Phase 2 - Impervious "Permeability" Ground Model - "Model Created", this is presented with Phase 1, Canopy-Model. Both the canopy and ground models will be added to a geologic map as an overlay, highlighting anthropogenic (man-made) ground, vegetation canopy only, and water.

- USGS Stream Gauge WebApp 1 - Added a USGS stream gauge viewer which the user can select either watershed or stream in selection mode, multiple site IDs, and various parameters. I am planning on create a chemistery version for water quality in similar fashion. Analysis includes the following:
- Flow Statiscs: Metrics computed from USGS Instantaneous Values (IV) in the selected window; timestep may differ by site. Pairwise stats require overlapping timestamps and use nearest-match timestamps (±10 min). CV is suppressed when mean is ~0. Autocorr/flashiness/ramp depend on timestep and noise.
- Double Mass Curve (Cumulative QA vs Cumulative QB) - Straight line ⇒ stable proportionality. Slope break ⇒ watershed shift (diversion, land-use, GW/SW coupling).
- Flow Duration Curve (FDC) Comparison - Shows % time flow is exceeded. Use Q/A normalization to compare runoff efficiency & storage.
- Lag-Time vs Rain Peak (Time of Concentration Proxy) - Compares how quickly each gauge peaks after a rain event (needs precip 00045 in the current payload).
- Baseflow Separation (RDF) + Baseflow Index (BFI) - Uses Recursive Digital Filtering to split stormflow (high-frequency) from baseflow (low-frequency). Compare BFI and (optionally) baseflow yield (baseflow/area).
- Master Recession Curve (MRC) + Recession Constant (k) - Finds falling-limb segments during low/no precipitation and fits Q(t)=Q0e-kt. Smaller k ⇒ slower recession ⇒ more storage/stronger groundwater support.
- Water Table Fluctuation (WTF) Proxy - Paste a nearby monitoring well hydrograph (datetime, head). Compute recharge proxy R = Sy·Δh and correlate with stream baseflow. (This is a proxy; consistent units are required.)
- Reach-Scale Statistical Tests (00060) - Wilcoxon Signed-Rank (paired) tests whether upstream vs downstream daily/interval flows differ. MOVE.1 fills missing values in one gauge using the other (log-space), so comparisons use the same climatic period. Daily mean is computed from loaded IV points (not NWIS daily service).
