This plugin can't be compiled with JDK versions older than 1.8
Updating your project to use JDK 8 can require you to update com.android.tools.build:gradle and other dependencies, which may not be always possible.
This change makes the plugin use only features from JDK 6 without changing functionality.
I also added some debug loggings.
