Summary

Documents the analytics update that applies crawler filtering to visitor counts and refines the agent traffic breakdown.

Changes

  • Added a "How Mintlify counts traffic" section to the traffic analytics page explaining that only human and agent traffic counts toward visitor and page view totals, with a note about the September 2026 visitor count change.
  • Documented the agent breakdown's HTTP clients, Browser, and Other buckets, and that Mintlify's internal traffic is excluded.
  • Added a help center page explaining why visitor counts dropped, why crawlers inflated visitors more than views, and that the change applies to all date ranges.
  • Mirrored all changes in the Spanish, French, and Chinese translations.

Context

Visitor totals previously included crawler traffic even though page views excluded it, which could show more visitors than views on crawler-heavy sites. Visitors, referrals, and agent stats now use the same crawler classification as views, the agent breakdown gains HTTP clients/Browser/Other buckets, and referral CSV exports no longer truncate at 100 referring domains (that fix needed no docs change since no limit was documented).

Overview
Documents Mintlify’s September 2026 analytics change: visitor totals now use the same crawler filtering as page views, so historical and current visitor numbers can look lower (especially on crawler-heavy sites).

The Traffic analytics page gains a “How Mintlify counts traffic” section (human + agent only; bots excluded), a note linking to the new help article, and a tightened agent views section that explains provider grouping plus HTTP clients, Browser, and Other buckets and excludes Mintlify internal traffic. Intro copy is shortened and frontmatter keywords are reformatted.

A new help center article explains what changed, why crawlers inflated visitors more than views, and that reclassification applies to all date ranges. The page is wired into docs navigation and mirrored in Spanish, French, and Chinese (traffic + help center).

Empty Note callout on traffic page

Low Severity

An empty Note sits at the top of the traffic analytics page with no content, so it will render as a blank callout. The Spanish, French, and Chinese versions of this page do not include it.
