# TMC Migration Scripts - Security and Code Quality Review

## Executive Summary

This review analyzes the shell scripts in the `vmware-samples/tmc-migration-scripts` repository, which contains 70+ scripts for migrating resources from VMware Tanzu Mission Control (TMC) SaaS to Self-Managed deployments. The analysis identified **several critical security vulnerabilities, potential data loss scenarios, and reliability issues** that should be addressed before production use.

**Risk Level: HIGH** - Multiple critical issues that could result in data loss or security compromise.

## Critical Security Issues Found

### 1. **Unsafe File Deletion - CRITICAL** ⚠️
**Location:** `utils/common.sh:41`

**Risk:** Potential catastrophic data loss
**Fix:** Use `rm -rf "${DATA_DIR:?}/"*`

### High Priority
1. **Standardize error handling** across all scripts
2. **Add comprehensive input validation**
3. **Implement proper API timeout handling**
4. **Add missing shebangs and fix syntax issues**

### Quality Improvements

## Static Analysis Results

Shellcheck analysis revealed:

4. **Recovery Testing**: Test failure and rollback scenarios
5. **Performance Testing**: Test with large datasets
