I am ok with the fix, but why did it show up suddenly ? We haven't changed this code in ages

Because enforcing of the use of RSS in v9.
Basically, all the other clients called by the DataManager were already down the line extracting the VO from the proxy, but not the RSS client. Anyway, I think it's better extracting it already in DataManager.
