A city grows either through organic growth, where the current inhabitants have children, who grow up to replace their parents in the workforce or through, migration based growth.

In the past two decades Bangalore has seen tremendous growth. In order to ensure proper distribution of resources we need to understand where is this growth taking place?

  • Where do new migrants settle down?
  • Are all migrants equal?
  • Skilled vs unskilled
  • Educated vs illiterate
  • Well paid vs daily wage
  • How does the difference in the type of migrants impact the needs of the locality?

In this work we will look at the following needs of the migrants to the city.

  • Food
  • Shelter
  • Education
  • Healthcare

The first data set we will work with is the voter registration data.

The public facing voter list consists of the following fields

Field Description
AC+Part Code for Assembly constituency and part number
Section Section number
Serial Serial number at given polling booth
EPIC Voter's Photo ID card number
Voter Voter's Name
Sex Voters Gender
