Reminder: @ekluzek proposed that we merge this PR to a new ESMCI branch and tag it there. Then we use chosen tags in ESCOMP and ESMCI to generate final ctsm5.4 datasets (ESCOMP/CTSM#3482) when we're ready. |

OK, I made a branch tag with this, so we can use this in CTSM. ccs_config_cesm1.0.61_add_domain_ne3np4.pg2_1 @jtruesdal will do the PR that has a fuller fix around support for ne3np4.pg2. |

We should close this one once we have4 a replacement for it. So I'm turning this into a draft. |

We haven't seen a replacement for this from others, so I propose we merge this to main, and the future PR can still make any needed changes to this one. ctsm5.4.000 is about to made in CTSM and we'd like it to have a tag on main-dev for ccs_config rather than a branch tag. |
