# Library Carpentry Governance Committee

## Agenda

### Maintainer follow up
LCGC members will look to attend the GitHub skill up sessions the Carpentries Core Team are planning, and the Maintainer Group is planning a joint session for GCs and Maintainers in April or May.

Action item: Tim will reach out to Jose about the joint session and follow up with DMP 101 maintainers to see about interest.

### Lesson stability & teaching demos (Intro to Data for Archives)
Discussion: the Intro to Data for Archivists lesson is marked stable in its repo but alpha on the LC lessons page. Governance view: not yet recommended for Instructor Training teaching demonstrations; lessons must be fully stable before demos.

Action items:

- Nathaniel will coordinate with Instructor Maintainers to share eligible lessons with Instructor Training group.
- Cody will update Data for Archivists and MarcEdit lessons' from Alpha to Beta on librarycarpentry.org.

### LC R and Python lessons to Lab
Decisions: Python and R maintainers will work with LCGC to move their lessons to the Carpentries Lab to approve the lessons as Stable.

Action items:

- Tim will move the R lesson to Carpentries Lab. (Summer 2026)
- Cody will move the Python lesson to Carpentries Lab (Summer 2026)
- Cody will update the R lesson status on librarycarpentry.org to Beta.

### Pilot lessons — summary and coordination
Summary: UCLA IMLS Open Science pilots are confirmed and coordinated. LCGC members are already involved as co-teachers in several sessions. Members will work with pilot instructors to coordinate the use of the Lesson Development plan checklist to document the sessions.

Action item: Cody will draft and send a short message for pilot instructors, highlighting the CodiMD checklist for pilot coordination (using Carpentries lesson development checklist and pilot observation template).

### Pathways redesign & UX testing
Project: medium-fidelity prototype and guerrilla usability testing for the Library Carpentry "pathways" presentation (target page: lessons). Timeline ~Apr–Jun 2026; project deadline June 30, 2026. Objectives: clarify pathways concept, help learners select pathways, and support workshop organizers in selecting lessons by audience/skill.

Project roles and timeline:

- Study notetaker: Jennifer Stubbs
- Apr: recruit participants, develop prototype
- May: run usability tests, analyze data
- Jun: summarize findings and recommend updates

Action items:

- Cody will schedule kick off meeting for subgroup working on project.
- Team to produce recommendations and quick site updates by June 30, 2026.
