Yes, they are insertions / einzusetzen. I'll look forward to learning the proper encoding/tagging for these symbols. I was conforming them to the conventions used in the immediate context, but maybe those are leftovers from the Lace process.

@mgbilby Lace is interactive, so we would have added, or recommended adding, diamond, non-coding brackets Unicode: U+27E8 and U+27E9 in that environment. This is likely an earlier OCR process and/or the DDD correction. I'm not familiar with the workflow at the time of capture but I don't believe that they had a firm set of guidelines for the ingest.

There is a lot of this in OGL that requires a systematic cleanup and review simply because of the volume of work that was being managed.

Ideally, there would be no entities at all. The brackets would be better than the entities, and tags <del> <add> <sic> etc. would be ideal. The same goes for quotation marks, but that can be a very difficult and tricky process.

I haven't looked closely enough at this to see if putting in the brackets would make a mess of things or not but I thought I might do a pass to clean it up in some way.
