A community-driven bugfix pack fixing invisible textures/models, typos, consistency problems, and more; including re-importing the higher quality PS2 NPOT textures, and hand-remastering a number of low quality assets.
Created, curated, and maintained by Afevis.
This compilation should be considered a perpetual work-in-progress.
- Textures generated/upscaled through AI upscaling will NOT be accepted into the base pack. All textures must be properly made by an actual human.
The repo is set up to easily contribute corrections (via CSV files) for ALL translations of the game. If you know of any typos in the French, Spanish, Japanese, ect versions, PLEASE feel free to submit those corrections as well!

MGS3-Community-Bugfix-Compilation.asi(included in the base download) provides update notifications, as well as file verification to ensure that the mod hasn't been corrupted or partially damaged by Steam's file integrity verification, and to verify that mods are being loaded in the correct order.- It is HIGHLY recommended to use a mod manager, such as Vortex Mod Manager or the MGS Mod Manager to handle installation for ease of updating and managing file load order (which IS important.)
Contains all fixes/corrections for both of the game's standard & high resolution texture settings.

All community bugfix remade UI textures & videos are mastered to display natively at 1920x1080 resolution (1080p / FHD.)
- Yes, they still work with Steamdeck / at 1280x720p.
An optional 4K asset pack is provided which contains these remade assests mastered to display natively at 3840x2160 (4K resolution.)
- After installing the "Base" version (from the steps above)
- Extract the 4K asset pack zip into your game folder, overwriting any files when asked.
- 4K asset pack MUST always be installed/loaded AFTER the base version.
Optional 2x & 4x AI Upscaled versions of all the game's textures (for those that prefer AI upscaled textures over the official High Resolution pack.)
- Our upscaled packs do FULLY REPLACE LiqMix's AI Slop texture packs.

- Download the desired addon pack from the "Assets" section below.
- The 4x Upscaled Texture Addon is split into 3 seperate parts due to GitHub size limitations.
- For a mod manager compatible single file zip version of the 4x Addon, visit out NexusMods.com page.
- Extract the Addon zip into your game folder, overwriting any files when asked.
- 2x / 4x Addon packs MUST always be installed/loaded AFTER the base version.

- As this pack already replaces nearly all of the game's textures, our upscaled packs do FULLY REPLACE LiqMix's AI Slop texture packs.
As this compilation reimports a lot of the original higher-quality PS2 textures, a number of standalone mods are fully/partially included in the compilation by the reimporting process.
- Files in this compilation are sourced directly from the original PS2 versions of the game & are not taken from any other author's mods without explicit permission first granted by their original authors.

- Fixed compression artifacting/pixelization present with 3310 textures (an issue originally introduced in the 2011 PS3 HD Collection) by re-exporting all 10565 textures from each of the original PS2 versions of MGS3, and fully rebuilding the game's file structure. [2011 HDC]
- Notably, this corrects pixelization / banding issues on Snake's, EVA's, Raikov's, and several other characters' faces and ears throughout the game. [2011 HDC] - Examples
- These higher quality PS2 NPOT textures are released under GPL-3.0 for other mod makers to use for their own mods as part of MGS3-PS2-Textures.
- Textures sorted by remastered status, mipmap requirements, and DXT5 usage can also be found here.
- Removes mipmaps that are incorrectly applied to 439 textures, correcting issues ranging from broken texture atlases, blurriness, and specular map quality issues. [2011 HDC]
- Fixed 526 partially (and in some cases fully) transparent textures (which even let you fully see enemies through walls in some places.) [2011 HDC]
- Fixed numerous textures which were not transparent enough (resulting in reflection effects not working properly.) [2011 HDC]
- Removed mipmaps from atlas map textures (ie magazines, item box words, ect), which lead to wrong parts/words being seen at a distance. [2011 HDC]
- Fixed rogue black pixels at the tips of Snake's hair. [2004 SE]
- Fixed a flipped first aid kit sign on the WIG. [2004 SE]
- Fixed broken shadow mask on a poster in Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab. [2011 HDC]
- Fixed multiple English radio calls with Para-medic switching to French subtitles half-way into the conversation. [2004 SE]
- Fixed black seams (dilation padding) on Eva's neck in multiple cutscenes. [2004 SE]
- Fixed broken wall damage decals in torture chamber. [2011 HDC]
- Fixed First Person View Button indicator not lighting up when held during cutscenes. [2011 HDC]
- Corrected Snake's cigar swapping to a different colored cigar (the original PS2 texture) when broken. [2011 HDC]
- Restored original PS2 controller icons (can be selected via MGSHDFix's config tool.) [2011 HDC]
- Note: Some hard-coded UI text still utilizes the PS4 controller phrasing, such as the demo theater instructions saying "PRESS TOUCHPAD". These will be addressed in an upcoming MGSHDFix update.
- Restored numerous crosses censored from red to green. [2023 MC]
- Restored removed banana camoflague & various other Snake vs Monkey textures. [2011 HDC]
- Note: Banana camoflague still requires a third party mod to unlock. Adding unlocking as part of the CBFC is being looked into.
- Restored 3 developer ghosts pictures, which were changed to different people / backs of heads. [2023 MC]
- Restored North America / US regional version's Cobra Unit boss namecards, which were utilizing their EU namecards (ie saying "The Pain" instead of "Hornet Soldier - The Pain".) [2011 HDC]

- These were remade using edited together mixtures of the original PS2 textures, similar variants of Bluepoint's 2011 HD Collection remastered textures, and the official 2026 High Resolution textures.

- Snake's tiger-stripe uniform (both with and without shirt) during ending cutscenes.
- Snake's naked / shirtless uniform during gameplay.
