Summary

Cleans up the DevOps Daily news sources list by removing 31 low-quality sources that don't match our content quality standards.

Changes

Removed 31 sources (all were marked priority: "low"):

  • Documentation sites without active blogs: kind, minikube, Kustomize
  • Product-specific marketing sites: CloudFormation Updates, CDK, Railway
  • Niche tools with infrequent updates: Tilt, Spin, OpenFaaS, k0s, Buildah
  • Infrastructure-level tools rarely updating: etcd, CoreDNS, Fluentd, NATS
  • Development tools not DevOps-focused: JetBrains, VS Code, Docusaurus
  • Generic tech news aggregators: DZone DevOps
  • Legacy monitoring tools: Nagios
  • Event pages vs blogs: DevOpsDays
  • Overlapping/redundant sources: TiDB, MLflow, Linode, Ubuntu, Canonical, Sentry
  • Build tools with limited relevance: Bazel, Flagsmith
  • Niche projects: Chaos Mesh, Gitea

Impact

Metric Before After Change
Total sources 85 54 -31 (-36%)
Low priority removed 41 - All bad ones removed

Important Notes

  • NO new sources added - this is purely a cleanup/removal operation
  • All major sources retained - verified that no important sources were accidentally removed
  • Only removed sources that were already marked as priority: "low"

Retained Sources (Verified)

Cloud Providers: AWS (DevOps + Containers), Google Cloud, Azure, DigitalOcean
CNCF Projects: Kubernetes, CNCF Blog, Istio, Cilium, Envoy, Helm
CI/CD Platforms: GitLab, GitHub, ArgoCD, Flux CD, Tekton, Harness
IaC Tools: Terraform, Pulumi, Crossplane
Observability: Grafana, New Relic, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry
Security: Aqua, Snyk, Falco, Kyverno
Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, ScyllaDB
Container Tools: Docker, Helm
Industry News: The New Stack, SRE Weekly, DevOps.com

Why This Matters

By removing low-quality sources:

  • Better signal-to-noise ratio for digest generation
  • More relevant content for our audience
  • Easier to maintain and update
  • Improved quality of automated news collection
  • Reduced risk of broken/404 feeds
