This PR recovers the refactoring of
OutputManagerfrom the large PR #3436.This is purely an API and implementation change, since, in my opinion,
OutputManageris full of anti-patterns.The transfer from #3436 is done with Codex GPT-5.6-sol max.
make fmt-fix(or had formatting run automatically on all files edited)
