### Decision-making framework for introducing new data types, suffixes, and formats

Before initiating work on a new BEP or progressing from a Draft to a Proposed BEP, BEP leads must assess whether the proposed addition introduces ***new*** *data types*, *modality suffixes*, or *file formats*.
