Add crate docs and package metadata, pin hex, move chrono behind the host feature, and drop the benchmarks and the standalone drift script.
Needless borrows, a redundant usize-to-usize cast, and two or-patterns rewritten as ranges. No behaviour change.

Release prep for v0.2.0: crate-level docs and package metadata (description, repository, keywords, categories, rust-version), pin hex, host-gate chrono, drop the benchmarks and the standalone drift script, and refresh the README. Plus a clippy pass on the lib.
No behaviour change. Full equivalence + divergence harness green locally.
