Introduction to Flight Software

Basecamp is designed to help users learn and adopt the core Flight System (cFS). Initially learning about flight software using Basecamp may be challenging because Basecamp makes some assumptions about what users know. The Space Steps website provides introductory educational material for space careers that may help get you started.

Once Basecamp is installed, the following sequence can start your flight software journey:

1. The cFS Overview slide deck introduces flight software concepts and the cFS.

• Open the slide deck using Basecamp's main menu Help->Tech Docs... and open basecamp-cfs-overview.pdf

2. Basecamp's introductory tutorial describes how to use Basecamp's GUI to interact with a flight software app using its telecommand and telemetry messages.

• Launch the tutorial using the main menu's Tutorials->Basecamp Introduction-> and do the following lessons:
  • Basecamp Feature Overview
  • Basecamp Demo App
