Disable Firefox's Auto-Save "History as Shortcuts" on New Tab Page

Issue

• Firefox automatically saves your history as a shortcut & no UI option is given to trun it off
• Opinion: Shortcuts can be useful in certain workflows, but if the most visited URLs are saved as Shortcuts by default then, the functionaly is 0

Adressing the Issue

• This can only be changed via the Configuration Editor found in about:config
• Set the property browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.smartshortcutsfeed to FALSE

Step by Step

Step #1: Open a new tab, enter "about:config" in the adress bar, click enter & accept the risk

Step #2: Seach for the target property as "smartshortcut" & set the property to FALSE

Step #3: Close the Configuration Editor Tab

Notes

• This only changes the autosave history as a shortcut feature
• Other Shortcut behaviors can be modified via the Settings Page via the UI
