Improved graph and sailing algorithm
The graph now integrates a broad range of environmental data layers, including tidal currents, wind fields, bathymetry, land visibility, and meteorological visibility. The routing algorithm has been completely restructured to support parametric sailing mechanics and vessel-specific hydrodynamics, enabling more realistic and historically grounded voyage simulations.
Initial stable release of the Historical Maritime Routing Tool
This release marks the first stable version of the Historical Maritime Routing Tool: a client-side web application enabling exploration of historical maritime routes through offline graph-based routing and geospatial analysis. It provides an intuitive interface for visualising, computing, and downloading route data without requiring server-side processing, addressing sustainability and accessibility challenges faced by some digital humanities projects.
