Summary of Changes

Hello @jpremo, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request significantly enhances the chat system's administrative capabilities by introducing dedicated endpoints for privileged users. These new features empower administrators and facilitators to effectively monitor and interact within chat environments, offering granular control over message retrieval for individual users or entire chats, and enabling direct communication as an admin. The changes are accompanied by thorough testing to ensure reliability and correct authorization.

Highlights

  • New Admin Chat Endpoints: Introduced three new API endpoints for chat management by administrators: 'getMessagesForUser', 'getMessagesAdmin', and 'sendMessageAdmin'.
  • User-Specific Message Retrieval: Added 'getMessagesForUser' to allow facilitators/admins to retrieve chat messages for a particular user within a chat, including pagination options.
  • Global Chat Message Retrieval: Implemented 'getMessagesAdmin' to enable support users to fetch all messages from a specified chat, also supporting pagination.
  • Admin Message Sending: Provided 'sendMessageAdmin' for administrators to send public messages to a chat or private messages to a specific user.
  • Comprehensive Testing: Included new unit tests in 'tests/chat.spec.js' to ensure the correct functionality and authorization of all newly added admin chat endpoints.
  • Dependency Metadata Updates: Minor adjustments were made to 'package-lock.json', primarily related to 'peer' and 'dev' dependency flags, likely from a routine dependency update.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Code Review

This pull request introduces new admin-level chat endpoints, which is a great addition. The new functions getMessagesForUser, getMessagesAdmin, and sendMessageAdmin are well-documented and come with corresponding tests, which is excellent. My review includes a couple of suggestions for improvement regarding naming consistency and file formatting for better maintainability. Overall, the changes are solid and well-implemented.
