Summary
All Misskey servers running versions 2026.5.2 and later, but prior to 2026.9.0, contains a vulnerability that allows bad actors to obtain the contents of files on the server host that they normally wouldn't be able to access, due to insufficient validation of the entries contained in an archive supplied to the custom emoji import feature. The obtained content may then be retrievable without authentication. Exploitation does not require an account on the affected server: it is sufficient for a poisoned emoji pack to be imported by someone who is permitted to manage custom emoji.
The underlying library slacc, which is an library intended to be used internally for Misskey, is affected in versions 0.1.0 and later. There will be no fixed version will be released, as the affected functionality is going to remove entrirely from the library.
Workaround
There is no configuration or role policy that fully prevents this, as the import may be performed by an administrator. Until you are able to update, do not import custom emoji archives obtained from sources you do not fully trust.
If you are using slacc directly in your product (though such usage is not recommended given the nature of this library regardless), please avoid using slacc to extract ZIP files and migrate to a different library as soon as possible.
The CVE ID is currently being requested. It will be updated once confirmed.
