The @mui/styled-engine-sc version was moved to v6 when we updated it to support styled-components v6, see #39042 (comment).
For people being in on v5 and using styled-components v6, they need to depend on the alpha versions up to this one. If you switch this back to v5, it will break for all developers using Material UI v5 and styled-components v5, it would be a breaking change, no?
Please check in the issue what version of styled-components they use and let's figure out what's the right version they need to install.
