Hi, I'm Praveen 👋

Backend engineer with 6+ years building production distributed systems in Go and Java. Currently at Cisco Systems working on the 5G mobility control plane — owning features end-to-end across BGP, BFD, SCTP, and the Kubernetes platform they run on.

🛠️ What I work on day-to-day

  • Networking control plane (owner): designed and shipped IPv6-only BGP bring-up, BGP gRPC management-plane decoupling, a route-addition retry framework, BFD source-port hardening (RFC 5881), and SCTP DSCP marking — features running on cloud-native NFs deployed by tier-1 telcos.
  • Distributed systems in Go: gRPC services, etcd-backed coordination, Kubernetes operators, Linux netlink, concurrency-heavy data planes — fixing real production race conditions and driving Go / Kubernetes / gRPC platform upgrades across 8+ infrastructure repositories.
  • Reliability & quality: root-caused and resolved 25+ customer escalations with backports across multiple release branches; raised unit-test coverage of the ~155k-LOC Go codebase from 93% → 99% (AI-assisted authoring with hand-reviewed diffs).
