What is this

CasketXchange is a regulated procurement and fulfillment platform for the death-care industry. We connect licensed funeral directors, manufacturers, and wholesale distributors across a growing network of regional and national funeral home groups.

Production (Stable)

Last major incident: 2025-11-03 (escrow finalization bug, fixed in hotfix/escrow-nullref-v2). Nothing major since. Knock on wood.

Multi-State Compliance Coverage

We now cover 47 states + DC. The remaining 3 (Louisiana, Hawaii, Vermont) are blocked on regulatory API access — see issue #1088 in the internal tracker. Louisiana has been pending since March. 규제 문제는 정말 골치 아프다.

Compliance modules handle:

• State-specific preneed licensing verification
• FTC Funeral Rule documentation generation
• Price list disclosure requirements (§ 453.2 compliant)
• Casket seller exemption tracking (varies by state, this was a nightmare to map, see /compliance/state_matrix.json)

Supported compliance frameworks per state are documented in /compliance/README.md. That file is more accurate than this one, use that one.

SecureEscrow v3

We upgraded from SecureEscrow v2 to v3 in this release. This was not optional — v2 loses support in June 2026.

Changes from v2:

• Escrow account tokenization now uses SE-v3 vault format
• Webhook verification uses HMAC-SHA256 (v2 used... something else, honestly not sure what v2 used)
• Dispute resolution API endpoint changed from /escrow/dispute to /escrow/v3/dispute

If you're running any internal tooling that hits the escrow endpoints directly, update it. The v2 compatibility shim is still running but Renata said we're turning it off by end of May.

Consumer Portal (Beta)

A Korean-language consumer portal is now in public beta. This allows end consumers (families, individuals) to browse available inventory through licensed funeral home partners.

Known issues:

• Mobile layout breaks on some Samsung browser versions (JIRA-9042, assigned to Priya)
• Currency formatting shows USD even when KRW toggle is on — this is a known bug, working on it
• 한국어 지원팀 연결은 아직 완전하지 않음 — 이메일로 문의하세요

The English portal is still /en and remains the primary supported interface. The Korean portal is read-only for consumers; actual transactions still go through the funeral home partner's dashboard.

You will need a partner API key. Sandbox keys are available via the partner portal. Don't use prod keys locally, you know who you are.
