India has over 6.3 crore MSMEs that form the backbone of the manufacturing sector. Yet most small and mid-size manufacturers still run on Excel sheets, WhatsApp groups, and paper registers — because existing ERP solutions are either too expensive or too complex to set up.
NextGenManager is built specifically with Indian manufacturers in mind:
- GST & MSME compliant — Contact records support GSTIN, MSME registration numbers, and PAN out of the box.
- Premium Card-Based Design — Say goodbye to dense, clunky tables. Experience a modern, intuitive layout built to increase user adoption on the shop floor.
- Job Work Challans — Built-in support for subcontracting workflows common in Indian manufacturing.
- Multi-address with GST — Manage multiple factory/godown addresses per vendor or customer, each with their own GSTIN.
- AI-ready out of the box — A built-in MCP server lets AI assistants read your BOMs, stock, and work orders directly; an optional agent turns enquiry emails into draft enquiries.
- Runs on modest hardware — No need for expensive cloud infrastructure. Runs on a basic laptop or a Rs. 500/month VPS.
- Zero license cost — Free and open-source forever. No per-user fees, no hidden charges, no vendor lock-in.
Make vs Buy Analysis: Helps small manufacturers decide whether to produce in-house or outsource — a daily decision in Indian shop floors.
Modern Inventory tracking with "Operational Health" vitals and supply chain bottleneck management.
Real-time cost tracking and production management with a modern, card-based interface.
Visual manufacturing routing: Define operations, work centers, and parallel execution paths.
- Bill of Materials (BOM) — Multi-level BOMs with versioning, cost breakdown, where-used analysis, and ECO-style change tracking with approvals.
- Work Orders — Single or multi-line work orders created from BOMs or sales orders, with material issuance, operation progress, labour entries, and full state transitions.
- Routing & Operations — Manufacturing processes with sequences, setup/cycle times, dependencies, and parallel operations.
- Operation Costing — Multiple costing modes including hourly labour rates and piece-rate costing (rate x quantity — e.g. Rs./hole x holes), plus a configurable overhead-percentage rollup.
- Production Scheduling — Schedule operations against work centers with capacity planning, shifts, holiday calendars, and calendar overrides.
- Work Centers & Machines — Work-center masters, labour roles, production job rate masters, machine registry, and machine production logs.
- Downtime & OEE — Downtime reason codes, start/stop capture, and OEE dashboards by machine and work center with trend analysis.
- Make vs Buy Analysis — Side-by-side in-house cost versus vendor quote to drive the daily make-or-outsource call.
- Job Work Challans — Subcontracting challans with line-level tracking and return reconciliation for Indian job-work workflows.
- Test Templates & Results — Reusable inspection plans applied to work orders, with recorded test results and an exportable QC test report.
- In-Process QA — Per-operation QA parameter entries captured on the shop floor as operations complete.
- Rejections & Disposition — Rejection entries with categorised reason codes and a disposition workflow.
Procurement pipeline: Manage purchase orders, vendor approvals, and receiving workflows.
- Route-Aware Demand — Sales order approval explodes demand against each item's replenishment strategy (make-to-stock / make-to-order) and raises work orders or purchase requisitions automatically when the route is unambiguous.
- Planning Desk — Ambiguous shortfalls land in a planning queue where a planner decides make, buy, or defer, backed by make-vs-buy costing.
- Purchase Requisitions — Requisitions with priority, source tracking, line-level status, and configurable approval rules.
- Purchase Orders — Vendor approvals, PO types, GST treatment, and PO-to-GRN tracking.
- Goods Receipt (GRN) — Receiving against POs with quality status, partial receipts, and automatic stock posting.
- Vendor Invoices, Payments & Debit Notes — Invoice capture against POs, payment recording, and purchase returns via debit notes.
- Vendor Price Lists — Item-vendor prices with full price history for comparison and re-costing.
Monitor live availability, tracking types (Batch/Serial), and inventory settings across all SKUs.
Product Master: Centralized catalog for managing raw materials, semi-finished, and finished goods.
Detailed BOM management: Component tracking, revision comparison, and change logs.
- Product Master — Raw material, semi-finished, and finished goods with specifications, process types, and separate finance and inventory settings per product.
- Item Coding — Configurable item code series and code mapping, so your existing part-numbering scheme survives the migration.
- Batch & Serial Tracking — Batch numbers and serial numbers with status lifecycles, tracked through receipt, issue, and dispatch.
- Inventory Ledger — Every movement written to a ledger and movement log, giving a fully auditable stock history.
- Stock Count — Physical stock counting with variance capture and adjustment posting.
- Material Requests & Reservations — Work-order material requests, booking approvals, and reorder handling for shortfalls.
Review, track, and manage professional proposals with ease.
- Enquiries — Capture and track customer enquiries with a configurable close-reason master for win/loss analysis.
- Quotations — Premium sales quotations with auto-populating items, dynamic tax configuration, and reusable message templates.
- Sales Orders — Full lifecycle with approval status, dispatch details, and PDF generation.
- Delivery Notes & Tax Invoices — Dispatch documentation and GST tax invoices generated straight from the order.
- Payments & Credit Notes — Advance and against-invoice payment recording, plus sales credit notes for returns.
- Sales Analytics — Pipeline and revenue analytics over enquiries, quotations, and orders.
Full Indian-compliance accounting stack built directly into the ERP — no separate Tally sync required.
- Chart of Accounts & Vouchers — Configurable CoA with a statutory voucher system (journal, payment, receipt, contra) and an approval framework.
- Auto-Posting from Operations — Sales and purchase transactions post to the ledger automatically (AR/AP), keeping books in sync with the shop floor.
- Perpetual Inventory — Real-time stock-to-GL reconciliation, so inventory value on the books always matches physical stock movement.
- GST Compliance — GST register, HSN summary, GSTR-1 / GSTR-3B return generation, and filing status tracking.
- TDS — TDS at time of payment, section-wise tracking, and challan / 26Q reporting.
- Opening Balances & Financial Years — Mid-year opening balance entry and financial year period management.
- Accounting Reports — Trial balance, day book, account ledgers, debtors/creditors ageing, and stock-GL reconciliation, with Excel export.
- MCP Server — A built-in Model Context Protocol endpoint at
/api/mcpexposing inventory, BOM, work order, item, and costing tools, so AI assistants can query — and, when write tools are explicitly enabled, update — your ERP. - AI Lead Agent — An opt-in agent that reads incoming enquiry emails and drafts enquiry records into a review queue; the browser talks only to the ERP backend, which proxies the agent.
- Approval Framework — Reusable approval policies, rules, and multi-step requests wired into sales orders, purchase orders, requisitions, vouchers, and inventory bookings.
- Document Checklists — Per-document-type checklists so nothing ships without its paperwork.
- REST API & Exports — Every module exposed over a documented REST API, with PDF document generation and Excel exports throughout.
- Roles & Permissions — JWT authentication with refresh tokens, role-based access, and custom roles beyond the built-in admin tiers.
- Audit Trail — Spring-event-driven change history on BOMs, work orders, and scheduling decisions.
- Attachments — MinIO-backed file storage for item, BOM, and document attachments.
- Multi-Address GST — Multiple factory/godown addresses per contact, each with its own GSTIN, plus MSME registration and PAN.
The easiest way to get NextGenManager up and running on your laptop.
# 1. Clone both repositories into the same parent folder
git clone https://github.com/siddhant2411/nextgenmanager.git
git clone https://github.com/siddhant2411/nextgenmanagerui.git
# 2. Fire up the full platform (backend + frontend + postgres + minio)
cd nextgenmanager
docker-compose up --build| Service | URL |
|---|---|
| UI | http://localhost:3000 |
| Backend API | http://localhost:8080 |
| MinIO Console | http://localhost:9001 (minioadmin / minioadmin) |
After MinIO is up, open http://localhost:9001 and create a bucket named nextgenmanager.
Use this when deploying to a cloud VM or any server with a public IP or domain.
The React frontend bakes the API URL at build time, so you must pass your server's address before building.
git clone https://github.com/siddhant2411/nextgenmanager.git
git clone https://github.com/siddhant2411/nextgenmanagerui.gitReplace YOUR_SERVER_IP with your actual IP address or domain name:
cd nextgenmanager
API_URL=http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:8080/api docker-compose up --build -dOr create a .env file next to docker-compose.yml so you don't have to repeat it:
# nextgenmanager/.env
API_URL=http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:8080/apiThen just run:
docker-compose up --build -d| Service | URL |
|---|---|
| UI | http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:3000 |
| Backend API | http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:8080 |
| MinIO Console | http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:9001 |
Before going live — change the default
POSTGRES_PASSWORD,MINIO_ROOT_PASSWORD, andSECURITY_JWT_SECRETvalues indocker-compose.ymlto strong secrets.
Complete guide to set up both the backend and the frontend on your machine.
