What Mebit is

Mebit is a personal episodic-memory app — an exocortex. Capture a thought by voice or text the moment you have it, then ask for it later in plain language. Mebit surfaces it, aware of where and when you are.

It is not a notes app. Not a reminder app. Not a task manager.

It is an externalized version of the contextual recall your brain does naturally but unreliably — tagging what you capture with time, place, and social context, and resurfacing it when you ask.

The whole app is two buttons

  • Capture — tap the orb, speak (silence saves it) or type. 240 characters, by design.
  • Retrieve — ask a question in plain language; get an answer drawn from your own notes.
"We're out of coffee." ──┐
"Spare key is in the kitchen drawer." ├─► captured, enriched on-device, stored locally
"Kim's birthday is September 2nd." ──┘

"What do I need at the store?" ──┐
"Where did I put the key?" ├─► answered from your notes, time + place aware
"Anything I need while I'm out?" ──┘

Core principles

These are deliberate constraints, not marketing copy:

Principle What it means in practice
Private On-demand, not ambient. A tool you pick up — not a system that watches you. Optional Face ID lock.
Secure Local-first. Notes live on your device. Nothing leaves without an explicit circle share.
Your data Zero ads. Zero data monetization. You supply your own AI key if you want cloud models — FlawedWorks runs no AI servers.
Useful & simple Two buttons. Always. Voice is primary. Complexity stays invisible.

Sharing, when you want it

Private Space keeps everything on your device. Shared Space (circles) lets you share with family or partners — per-circle, never per-note, on a peer-equality model over CloudKit. You choose who sees what.

Built for

Couples coordinating errands. Families sharing the mental load. Anyone who notices something, captures it once, and wants it back later without building a second job out of organizing notes.

About this repository

This is a product showcase for Mebit. The application source is maintained in a private repository as part of normal App Store development practice.

If you are reviewing Gary Seiler's work for collaboration or hiring, this repo — together with FlawedWorks and the open frameworks on GitHub — represents the shipped, marketable side of that work.
