Big TelemFFB 2.0 Update

Platform

  • Updated UI framework leveraging the latest PyQt6 libraries
  • Brand new look and feel
    • Settings are categorized for easier access
    • New, better management of multiple devices with easy to see icons compared to legacy clickable device labels
    • Easier to switch between various effect mode settings (like different spring or g-effect types)
      • relevant sub-options are displayed only if mode is active
    • Detachable Monitor tab
      • Now you can see the 'Active Effects' and edit settings at the same time
  • Support for Dark Mode theme
    • Light-mode, Dark-mode or system-controlled setting can be configured in System settings
      • Defaults to system controlled so will pick up your current windows theme setting
    • Can force light/dark mode with '--lightmode' or '--darkmode' runtime flags
  • All new Offline & Sim/Class default editor
    • Same interface as typical real-time configuration
    • Legacy offline interface has been retired
    • Easily move a model setting into a class/sim default by right-clicking on the delete button and selecting 'move to'
  • New Profile Manager capability
    • Easily create additional settings profiles for any aircraft.
    • Profiles can be created as new or cloned from an existing one
    • Easily switch between profiles in the Profile Manager window or in real-time from the main App.
    • Profiles can be exported/imported individually or en masse with or without supporting class/sim default settings
    • Previously exported profiles can be imported. Options to include, exclude or rename profiles in the import file are available
    • ** On first load of new version, your existing configurations will be converted to a new profile based config. Legacy config will be retained for use with previous versions of TelemFFB.

All Sims

  • New 'Advanced Spring Override'
    • New custom widget allows precise smoothed curve definition with multiple points
    • You can now define a custom spring curve over a given airspeed envelope
    • Separate defitions for X/Y axes
    • Supported on Pedals and Joystick
    • Curve configurations are exportable/importable for easier sharing between users.
  • New 'Advanced G-Effect'
    • Leverages the same custom curve widget as the new advanced spring curve
    • Defines the effect force over a given G-loading range
    • Supports two effect modes
      • Constant Force: Similar to legacy G-effect
      • Spring Offset: Uses new firmware capabilities to drive the spring-center forward/back to create a strengthening effect on the spring when the stick is held still

BMS (Beta)

  • Newly added support for Falcon BMS
    • Support is considered Beta at this time. Basic effects (engine rumble, afterburner, gunfire, etc) are tested. Many effects are untested.
    • Use it and report found issues/non-working effects please

DCS

  • Support added for F4U-Corsair
  • New high-performance compiled telemetry exporter.
    • Performs same function as legacy lua script, but with a fraction of the overhead
    • Reduces likelyhood of potential negative interactions with (or from) other DCS export scripts
  • Dynamic 'Autopilot Deadzone' - Can dynamically apply a axis deadzone via the configurator API when AP is activated
    • Requires new DLL based telemetry export
    • Available on select aircraft currently: F-14, F-18, A-10, F-4

MSFS

  • Steering Friction
    • Adds a small to moderate amount of friction effect while on the ground and below a speed threshold. Friction will increase as airspeed decreases
  • New Turbulence Effect
    • Monitors relative wind data and reacts to gusts, providing a small to moderate constant force effect based on the wind data in the x/y polar axes
  • New 'FlyInsideHelicopter' sub-type to support effects leveraging FFB specific data available from Fly Inside helicopters
    • Currently includes shake type effects for things like blade slap, ETL and VRS.
  • Fix case in MSFS24 where aircraft with 'electric' engine types were not properly being processed
  • Helicopters - Simvar based force trim toggle
    • Enable 'Force Trim Switch' while Force Trim spring mode is selected
    • Toggle "L:TelemFFBHeliFT" with Spad.nExt, AoA or other external tool
    • If heli has force trim switch in cockpit, replace the L:Var config with the applicable L:Var to control using in-cockpit switch

IL2

  • Enhanced telemetry based gunfire effect
    • Gun data (mass, velocity) is read from telementry and used to create a dynamic intensity/fire rate effect
    • Smaller/faster rounds will produce a higher frequency effect while larger/slower rounds will pack more of a punch at a lower rate

    • Fixed Certain simconnect override types could lead to corrupted user xml
    • Fixed main setup window popping up every time if a joystick PID was not entered (e.g. if user had only pedals)

MSFS\XPLANE

  • New device type capability "Trim Wheel" has been added to TelemFFB
    • Reads from and writes to trim axis.
    • Syncs with aircraft trim position on load-in to aircraft
    • Follows elevator trim during autopilot engagement
    • Follows elevator trim if trim buttons are used as well

MSFS

  • Improved autopilot following logic
    • New "Deadzone" per axis setting for autopilot following. Input will not register until deadzone area is exceeded - improves behavior on autopilots that do not tolerate any input
    • New settings to increase/decrease the amount of physical movement of the stick that the AP inputs will produce

  • Use simvar CAMERA STATE to avoid playing telemetry while in menus (pause unless value is 2-5). Workaround required due to simconnect pause state bugs in FS2024

    • In the force trim settings for the respective device, enable the "use buttons from master" option and then bind your button(s).

DCS

  • Option added in system settings to disable export script checking/auto-install for those using non-standard save games locations

IL-2

  • Improved effect management during IL2 game window focus loss
  • Added IL-2 system settings option to leave effects running during window focus loss. Can assist with effect tuning but may lead to odd behavior and/or stuck effects
  • Added discrete effect settings for gunfire/rocket/bomb (was previously a single "weapon release" effect)

MSFS

  • Work around some of the active telemetry issues in MSFS2024 when in menus, avatar mode and cinematic cut scenes
  • Added many basic profiles for default MSFS2024 aircraft
  • "Axis Control" now enabled by default

  • Soft require firmware v 1.0.17
    • MSFS Dynamic forces effect and "new" g-force effect (all sims) are now using features introduced in the 1.0.17 firmware
  • Fixes
    • Fix crash on startup when device PID is wrong or device is disconnected
    • Fix device gains read during startup being pushed to device on every settings change

All Sims

  • Enhanced "new g-force" effect
    • Effect now uses the spring center, rather than true center to determine applied gain. Works better in aircraft with displaced centers and helicopters. Also accounts for offset center due to trim
  • New generic "Collective Force Trim"
    • Available in helicopters for MSFS/X-Plane/DCS
    • Trim release/reset and hat trim bindings available

MSFS

  • Improved dynamic forces effect. Eliminated issue that was producing oscillations due to g-force component of the effect
