Hi there

I build production AI systems, evaluation workflows, and tool-first software that AI agents can actually use.

I’m Weijian Zhang, an AI Engineering Manager at Marex with a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Manchester. My background spans numerical linear algebra, time-dependent networks, and real-world machine learning systems, including time as a visiting researcher at MIT CSAIL.

What I focus on

  • Production AI systems — building LLM and ML systems that work beyond demos
  • Model behaviour & evaluation — improving reliability, regression detection, and iteration speed
  • Tool-first software — APIs and CLI tools that humans and agents can both operate
