Assumptions and Limitations

We have to limit the degree of freedom in modeling to achieve an accessible modeling environment. This has several reasons:

  • all information has to be encodeable in text and unambigous at the same time
  • textual editors cannot hide as much technical details as graphical editors

In order to cope with these challenges, we formulate the following assumptions and limitations. Where possible, we have to enforce them in the tooling or at least give some hints to the users.

Assumptions

  • every regular association (association, composition, aggregation) has a name (required to make it referenceable by users of textual notations)
  • the tuple of association ends and association name has to be unique
